I think that the Teach My Community exercise presentation was an excellent idea. The bond that we have built over the course of the semester made it so much easier to present to the class. With this exercise, we were able to show what we were interested in and which movie best fit our interest. It was interesting to see the variety of movies used, from a comedy like borat to a whole bunch of extremely serious movies. I enjoyed how Professor Aguas gave us the freedom to teach whatever we wanted how ever we wanted without feeling pressure to follow specific rules (like how other teachers normally would). It personally allowed me to go up and present without worrying if I was going to do well or not because I felt like there wasn't really anything I could do wrong in the presentation - everything was pretty much up to me; all I really had to do was be prepared.
I would like to say everyone did a good job over the last couple of weeks presenting their presentations. I am truly interested in seeing pretty much all of the movies that were presented and although I have already seen some of the movies people presented, I am still interested in seeing how they would teach the class if they actually got the full three hours - it would be fun to have a student teach a class session.
I t's sad knowing that this class is coming to an end because we have built such a great community within this class of 25-or-so people. Everyone is so friendly and everybody's opinion counts - i'm pretty sure that this class makes everyone feel welcome. Professor Aguas challenges us and pushes us to exceed our own expectations. This is why I love this class :)
